A realistic novel that narrates the harrowing story of the burning and sinking of the passenger ship “Tenth of Ramadan” in Lake Nubia, located in northern Sudan and southern Egypt. On board were sixty female students from Al-Jeraif Secondary School, returning from a school trip to Egypt in the mid-1980s.
Waiting for the Train
A human love story narrated by a storyteller in a rural café to travelers waiting for the train. He recounts the tale from the perspective of its two protagonists, Saad and Saadiya, who lived in a village on the banks of the Nile.

The story of the young Abd al-Sami al-Maghribi, who lived a homeless childhood in the Maghreb during the fall of Andalusia into the hands of the Castilians and the escape of its people from it. The boy lived and witnessed the events of the epidemic that killed thousands in the Maghreb region and the death of his parents with that disease. Then after he grew up a little he decided to migrate eastwards, so he did until he reached the ancient Soba region and was present during the beginnings of the establishment of the Blue Sultanate and the State of Funj, where he worked as a writer and land registrar for the Sultan Amara. Young Abdul Sami described the social and political patterns of life in the region of Fazugli, Sennar, and central Sudan in details, as well as the trade movement and the influx of scholars and aspirants to the nascent state, the Sultan’s Council, and the traditions of the government. The novel is full of events and surprises and is not without tragedy.
